Took 2 other 16 years olds and I about 2 hours to go 2.5 miles because of the confusing side trails, that lead you into thick brush. We saw herons, lizards, snakes (one rattle snake), a tick, a big wild bird and its offspring, and some small crawfish and fish. After setting up our tents, we climbed 500 feet up a nearby ridge to get a better view of the valley. While in camp, the mosquitoes were annoying, so bring something to deal with them. I would recommend using gps to know when to cross the creek. I made a map on caltopo.com, and downloaded it onto Avenza maps on my iPhone. You will not need to take off shoes to cross the stream. All of the red dots on the picture of my map are potential campsites. When we pulled into the parking lot we were scolded and threatened a ticket for going over 10 mph, so watch out for that.
