Started this trail today after reading a report that said the fork for Source Lake marker is missing, making the switchback section hard to find. Made the same mistake as that hiker, blew right past the switchbacks and got almost all the way to Source Lake before turning around. Found the tree at the trail split and noticed there is a pink piece of fabric tied to a branch that I missed the first time. Almost all of the other switchbacks going up from there are marked with either a fabric tag or a rock pile.
I would recommend trekking poles even if you have yak trax for traction, there's a LOT of places where the snow makes a bridge several feet over the boulder fields that is melted underneath, and it won't be long before they collapse. The snow that's left is very mushy and slick.

Thanks for getting up there...nice to see how the lake is melting out.
