This is a great hike, but pretty far off the beaten path. We were on the forest roads for quite some time, but there were beautiful views on the drive.
Trailhead parking lot was full and had about 10-15 vehicles in overflow areas by 10am when we arrived.
The trail was snow free throughout and the rhods were beautiful. Even though it was a sunny day, the trees provided plenty of shade, even making the trail dark at some points. For being so far out, this trail is in great condition.
We didn’t do the full tubal Cain mine trail. Once we got to the Tull Canyon junction we headed up and checked out the mine (which is probably 100 feet away from the junction), and then hiked up to the crash site. The hike up to the crash site from the junction is a little steep at times, but it is worth it when you get up to the plane.
