Started on the trail around 8:30am today. As others have stated, the first couple miles are not that great; all elevation with no views. Once you take the Crystal Lakes path, you start to get some views (but still all elevation). I would skip the lower Crystal lake (more like a pond) and go straight to the upper lake. It was beautiful today and hardly anyone around. We enjoyed a snack before heading up to Sourdough gap. More elevation (but amazing views). Overall an amazing hike!
PS: if you are coming from the National Forest side (via Sheep lake), please don't bring your dog in the National Park side. It clearly states pets are not allowed.
In addition, please don't play your stereo when hiking, its rude.
