One of the best old growth hikes in the Cascades. Even got a brief rainstorm or two which was refreshing. Trail in great shape, bugs not bad if you are moving. Camped at end of main trail, 5.5 miles from trailhead, near river where few bugs hang out. Also climbed nearly 3,000 feet to White pass, about 7 miles round trip from the end of the North Fork trail. Flowers, marmots. Total of 17 miles or so, great combo of old growth and alpine meadows, awesome. Note: To get to White Pass, hike about 3 miles from last NOrth Fork campsites, then take a right on PCT, go half mile more. Note: It's 7 miles from Mt Loop. Road is getting really rough in a couple spots. High clearance vehicles suggested.
