We slept in the parking lot on Friday night and were on trail by 6:30am. There was some running water on the trail from snowmelt, we did not bring our water pump, which was a mistake.
It took us about 3 hours to get up across the first glacier. Up until this point, everything was pretty easy. Crossing the second glacier and path up to the false peak was very difficult. The trail is steep and this is where I started experiencing the altitude. We forged ahead, though. After the false peak there is one more push up to the very cold and very windy peak. This took another 3 hours.
We were fortunate to get a very clear day, we could see Hood, Bachelor, the Three Sisters, Mt. St Helens, and Rainier. How cool.
Descending the steep sections was pretty difficult as well, but we made it out okay. The whole trip took just about 12 hours.
