Views from lookout site

Searching for solitude & a challenge, but limited on time, West Beckler Peak lookout site fit the bill for us.  This was once a fire lookout site, but the lookout itself is long gone.  Artifacts remain and can be found strewn about the site--whatever you find, please respectfully leave as-is so the next visitor can discover & enjoy a piece of history, as well.

The trail itself is overgrown & can be hard to follow--at the very least, bring a map & compass & know how to use them in case you inadvertently miss a switchback & find yourself wandering.  Switchbacks guide you up the mountain, usually gently, and eventually to the north side of the peak where you can glimpse Glacier Peak, among others.  Then, the trail picks back up--more overgrown here--and heads back toward the south until reaching the old lookout site.

I'm unsure of the mileage, but would guesstimate approximately 4 miles roundtrip with an elevation gain of around 2,000'.

George & Sally on West Beckler Peak

I hiked to the old Beckler Peak lookout site back on July 12th. I did a trip report here on WTA under, "Beckler Peak Lookout, Beckler Peak", by George & Sally. The hike is 5 miles round trip and I had 2,050' of gain. George

Thank you! I wasn't sure what hike to post this under. Your stats are helpful--I wished I had been using my GPS to track length & elevation, but now I know! :)
