This is a truly spectacular hike. It is difficult at times but definitely worth the effort. I've never smelled air so naturally sweet as here. There were small patches toward the top but no need to traverse any snow (as of Sept 19). This trail is extremely popular: I went on a Wednesday and it was absolutely packed. I had to park down the road a bit because the rather large parking area was full. Definitely arrive early unless you don't mind a little extra walking.
The only thing I'm sad about is that Ranier was shrouded in clouds all day.
I'm certainly going to repeat this hike next year when the flowers are in full bloom.
