Dirty Harry's Peak — Thursday, Sep. 20, 2018

The tool talk

The revised Dirty Harry's Peak Trail (marked as DHPT by the new DNR signs) is almost finished. This new portion follows the old Birdhouse Trail, replacing both the Birdhouse Trail, and the old Dirty Harry's Road Trail that started half a mile farther up the road to the WA Fire Training Academy.  Today a WTA crew worked on a tough section just below the upper balcony (about 2 miles up).  The trail is looking great.  It is steep, but mostly smooth, with lots of stone steps and water bars along the way.  We started in the fog and misty drizzle, but the clouds cleared around noon.  We spent most of the day working a rocky, narrow spot where these photos were taken.
