What a nice day for a hike! Larches are at their peak right now - some are starting to go orange. Saturday’s storm left some intermittent snow on the trail starting at 5000 ft. I didn’t need micro spikes or gaiters, but poles were nice for stability on the descent. Not enough snow for making a snow otter :-( , but sufficient for some snowballs! In terms of larch hikes, I prefer the more varied scenery of Maple Pass, but Easy Pass is *very slightly* less crowded.

Nice meeting you too! The otter’s name is River. Next time, we’ll remember to give you a sea otter high five! Happy trails!
