Trip Report

Mount St. Helens - Monitor Ridge — Thursday, Oct. 11, 2018

South Cascades > Mount St. Helens

Climb was uneventful. Marvelous weather. Patchy snow from about 7900', entirely avoidable. No need whatsoever for traction, ice ax, etc.
The traverse across the rim to the summit was a bit more interesting. It's pretty steep on the south side, and straight down on the crater side. One small spot was still icy and just exposed enough that I put on microspikes. Might have helped to have poles, but I was fine without.
Passed 24 people on the way up, 44 people in the climber's register.
