The road has a few significant potholes that I probably wouldn't have been able to navigate in my Corolla. My friend's Outback did fine going slowly. The trailhead is unmarked and easy to miss - nothing to indicate that it was the Silver Peak trail, except a silvery log standing upright by the road. But it is directly across the road from the trailhead marked as PCT.
The trail is in good shape, although there were some very slippery muddy sections (one of which landed me on my backside!) and the sharp turns require paying attention to stay on the trail. The leaves were amazing and the view from the summit - on this perfect fall day - were spectacular.
