Today was a beautiful, sunny day so I anticipated that the trail would be busy in the late morning. Got to the start about 8:30 and there were only 3 other cars. The road is closed so I parked on the side of 101. Walked up the road to the trailhead and started the steady climb up. There really isn't a part where it flattens out so be prepared to walked uphill the entire 2 miles. The trail was is great condition and clear until the last quarter mile or so. There is snow on the trail but its melted/hardened a few times so it makes for a slick walk up. I would recommend something to help your feet grip the ice. I had forgotten my yak Trac on the counter so this section made me decide to take the road down even though it's twice as long. The views are beautiful, as expected. I had the viewpoint all to myself. Took the road down and had snow for the first mile down, between 7-9 inches. There is a path but it is slick with ice so I walked on the edge of the path in snow. Saw lots of animal tracks, mainly dog, but others as well but no sightings. There is a passable rock slide about halfway down but other than that no issues. Great way to spend the morning!
