Lena Lake — Saturday, Jan. 12, 2019

Olympic Peninsula > Hood Canal

What an amazing day for a hike!  We got a late start and arrived at the trailhead around 2:45 PM.  The parking lot had plenty of spaces still available.  The bathrooms are out of toilet paper and pretty gross thanks to lack of service from the government shut down.

The trail was in good shape with minimal obstacles, there were a few places with water flowing over or trees down but nothing difficult to traverse.   The lake was absolutely spectacular to take in at the top, but we were in quick viewing mode so we could start our descent and beat the sunset.

We arrived back at the parking lot right at dusk as we were losing our light.  Our headlamps were definitely necessarily on parts of the trail on the way down as the sun slid behind the mountains.
