Started from the Granite Creek TH about 2.5 miles from Mailbox TH. Our destination was Thompson Point and possible push to Revolution Peak. No snow until you are at about 3000 ft elevation. At that point there are some icy sections. We put on our microspikes. Snow conditions were pretty good as we headed up. It started getting deeper at around 4300' but still don't need snowshoes.
We cut the last switchback and headed straight up for the last 200' or so as at that time it seemed kicking steps was a bit easier even though the section was steeper. Grand views once you reach the top at around 5000'. We were the only ones up there.
Checked out the traverse to Revolution Peak but it seemed a lot of work and we were tired so decided to leave it for another day. Spent about half an hour at the summit and then headed back.
Carried ice axe but never needed to use it.
Too bad the forest service decided to remove the cabin. this was our first trip up there so never got to see it.

Any exposed areas that you were worried about Avy risks. Thinking of heading up this weekend?

Snow seems fairly settled down so didn't feel there was any avy risk. The trail doesn't go through/near any steep slopes either so I think it's fairly safe. However, things could have changed with more snow. On the day I went the NWAC avy risk was moderate in the cascades.
