Camp Muir - Winter — Saturday, Apr. 20, 2019

Mount Rainier Area > SW - Longmire/Paradise
Camp Muir Snowshoe by PacificNW21
We got to the Longmire museum at 9:00am to pick up our climbing permit. Even though there was only a few people in front of us, it took us a lot longer to get the permit then expected. We ended up starting the hike around 11:30am. There is snow the entire way to the summit and back so be prepared. We used snowshoes the first 3/4 of the way up. And crampons for the last third. The cabins and bathrooms at Muir are open. We brought stuff for glissading, but only ended up glissading on one hill. Got back to the car around 4 the next day. Something to note: 6 cars that were parked in the overnight parking lot at paradise got broken into that night. So don’t leave any valuables in the car and consider carpooling.
