Good place to cook noodles.
Overnight at Big Grieder Lake- started late at the trailhead about 6:10, finally arrived to our campsite (shared with another group) around 8:30.
A few stops for the doggo to do doggo things, a few stops for taking in view (aka= excuse to stop and catch breath) and a few stops for neature appreciation of the MASSIVE lightning-struck trees, lush understory and sunset beams casting the coveted alpen-glow on all it encounters.
As everyone else has said- the first two miles are a breeze, and get you loosened up for the climb ahead for the last 1.5ish mile. It gets quite steep, which is more dramatic when you have overnight packs on!
I'd say sturdy footwear is an excellent idea, given the decline you'll tackle on your way back down. No snow, mild bugs (bug spray works fine!).
Woke up before the sun crested the ridge, cooked breakfast on the platform, then attempted a short trail leading off from where the privy is... all we found was an extremely brief indication of a previous path, then consistent dense alpine bushwacking. We turned around when we came upon a large boulder that afforded us views of a avalanche washout area, and views towards Little Grieder. Anyone find the actual route end?
Took out the pack raft, explored the south end of the lake where the cascades pour out. Explored an animal/social trail that skirts the west bank of the lake.
Heard field mice at night, saw hummingbirds during the day.
Great overnight!
