We got to the trailhead around 4:30PM last Saturday and there were less than 10 cars. Weather hadn't been great but even so I was surprised that this was so quiet on Memorial weekend - only ran into three groups of people through the whole hike!
The trail starts somewhat steep but levels out quickly. It was muddy in places and had a few trees on the trail that were a bit difficult to pass for my 5'3'', short-legged self (my husband had no problems). No snow anywhere. In the first part of the hike, the wildflowers were beautiful - lots of lupines! We also saw a few marmots close to the lake.
This was my first time on this trail and I really enjoyed it, the drizzly weather turned out to be a great fit for this hike, and the lake might not be as gorgeous as Colchuck but is still beautiful.
