I took my 71 year old mom on this trip. We started on the south trail to get some lovely views of the water and walked back along the beach before heading to the north trail.
This was our first time in the park and southern part of the trail was very quiet and a little concerning at first. The hill was a little steep for my mom but we took it slow. Once you get past the first two humps, it was pretty easy from there. Past that 2nd hump we ran across I believe a homeless guy. He was behind a tree messing with a bad off to the side. We quickly walked past him as this was where the trail started to go downhill. A little beyond that we crossed a bridge over a little stream before it turns and heads back up.
When we got to the first fork, we opted to stay on the service road to avoid other more shifty people. There was significantly more foot traffic of dog walkers and runners. It was easy to past the 2nd fork in the cross of the trail with the service road. Mom didn't go all the way to the top. When we hit the last crossing we turned around and stayed on the service road the rest of the way down.
