This is a gorgeous hike. There is foxglove blooming all along the road leading to the trailhead. The road does have enough potholes that, if you're not paying attention, you might give yourself whiplash. Most of them are shallow and wide though, so if you go slow or are good at avoiding them you'll be fine. (I underestimated the drop right where the pavement ends and the dirt road begins, ooof.)
Loved how many bridges were on this trail--the suspension bridge is fun, but they just keep coming. And even though you never really gain any elevation, you get a decent workout gaining and losing a few feet pretty constantly.
I hiked until I hit the intersection with Noisy Creek. The trees finally opened up into a beautiful view of Mount Baker and the lake. Sat down and ate a snack on the trail before saying hello to the creek and turning back.
On the way out, at 4 pm, I saw a lovely owl a few feet away!
