The trail was in good shape until a couple miles in, when we hit the recently burned area. In some places on the way up the trail disappeared in the ash but some cairns were set up to help guide the way...but not exactly on the right path. We ended up a little off course. Maybe we weren’t paying enough attention! We fixed some on the way back. We had a trail map and narrative description which helped. Many large trees down on parts of the trail, some old growth, so prepare for slow travel and a little climbing around. Worth it though, the lake was beautiful!
