Trip Report

Baker River — Sunday, Jun. 30, 2019

North Cascades > Mount Baker Area

Struts and shocks rejoice! They’ve filled the potholes!  The road was so bad they must have ran out of gravel because they left about a half mile with holes. Not bad though. Any car can make it.

There were about 30 cars in the lot when we arrived around noon. We only saw a few hikers on the trail. People can really spread out here so you get a lot of quiet time.

After you pass the intersection with the suspension bridge the trail gets really brushy. Be careful And watch for nettles.  I felt a little claustrophobic here but it didn’t last long.

We enjoyed the huge cedar trees, ferns and inchworms. My mom enjoyed the caves under the giant boulders. I tried to move past them as quickly as possible. They look like carnivore condos. Haha
