Bench and Snow Lakes — Sunday, Jun. 30, 2019

Mount Rainier Area > SE - Cayuse Pass/Stevens Canyon
Bench and Snow Lakes by hik987

We got to the trailhead at around 10:30am. Parking was starting to fill up. We parked alongside the road a little further down the trailhead. Trail goes up and down. Way in is steeper than the way out. Most of the path has steps and trail is well maintained. About 0.25miles in there is a view of bench lake. Further down there is a path on left that leads to bench lake. It’s a steep way in and based on a callout from fellow hikers we decided to keep walking to snow lake instead.

On the way to snow lake you’ll pass through beautiful alpine meadows with a variety of wildflowers. The lake is amazing turquoise blue with an incredible backdrop. Water is so clear you can see fishes go by. We looped to the right first and turned around after we hit the end of maintained trails. On the way back we stopped by the campsite for a snack while taking in the views before finally heading to the parking lot.

Note: that there are no toilets at the trailhead but there’s supposedly one at the campsites.
