Magnificent hike for the views. Starts off in a forest and then opens up to majestic views that somehow improve the farther up you go. After Cascade Pass, there's a rather grueling hillside to hike. It's covered in wildflowers and so pretty but also a serious workout, at least with an overnight pack on. After the Doubtful Lake Overlook, we went on to Sahale Arm, which is delightful. Marmots abound. First day we didn't see any marmots until we were almost to the glacier -- and then only two. Pretty sure the reason is there was a dog on a leash with two day hikers that afternoon. No dogs are allowed in this park!!! Next day (no dogs) we saw *many* marmots frolicking and eating. Scree field up to Glacier was easier in my opinion than the aforementioned hillside, but YMMV. Tent sites are few but super cool, like having one's own little parapet. It was windy and cold up there so pack warmly if you're staying the night. Relaxed 5 hour hike up/in and very leisurely 4 hour hike down/out.
