Main trail is very well-maintained with plenty of room for the weekend crowds. After the turnoff to Bandera Mountain the terrain and grade of the trail changes significantly.
Catch your breath periodically on the incline and enjoy the wildflowers and views of Mt Rainier on a clear day.
Plenty of shade at the top of the false summit to rest and snack before carefully finding your way back down.
Other hikers on the trail reported that the true summit was not worth the treacherous trek through the woods so we skipped that.
