Lake Julius and Loch Eileen — Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2019

We spent 3 nights at the Alpine Lakes High Camp and hiked this the afternoon we arrived.  From the Camp it is 1 mile to Lake Julius and another 1/2 mile to Loch Eileen.  The first part is on a logging road.  The trail begins just before the boundary of the Alpine Lakes Wilderness, drops to a creek crossing, then pretty flat to Lake Julius and then up about 400' in the half mile to Loch Eileen.  If not staying at the Camp, these lakes can be reached via the Lake Ethel trail from US 2.  A good day hike if camping at Lake Ethel or if backpacking from Lake Ethel to Chiwaukum or Larch Lake.
