Previous reports on serious potholes on road are accurate. Take it slow though and you’ll make it - fortunately it’s a relatively short stretch of road  from where the bad ones start and the trail head.

Had a great hike with my 13 yo daughter and two of her friends. Walked around the Lake counterclockwise and really glad we took the extra time to do that portion. Encountered one large group camp that looked like a great spot. We also saw a very cute (and chubby) pika in the rocks near the far end of the lake.

Trail is always wet, so expect a little mud on your shoes and few spots of slight scrambling. We made good time with a nice bit of time hanging out at the lake we did the whole round trip in 3 hours - granted we weren’t taking any real breaks on the trail.

As a bonus bugs were almost non existent! Started at two and finished at 5. Trailhead was pretty full as it is every weekend but we found a spot.
