Thursday, August 29, 2019: arrived at trailhead at 8:45 am, two cars in the lot. 3 hours later, there were 14 cars in the lot.
This hike kicked our butts; the heat, humidity, and rocky terrain did a number on us - my arthritic feet are still feeling the effects. We were glad to get an exceptional workout, but the three aforementioned factors - including our mid-60s ages - proved to provide a less than enjoyable time. We didn't see one person until part way down from the Balcony and once we encountered that one woman, all the owners of the vehicles in the parking lot made their way up the trail. No biggy, several dogs, only one human who didn't pick up its dog's excrement so that's a pretty good percentage of responsible dog ownership.
We deemed the pay off - the view from the Balcony - just okay. There were other views earlier on that were just as worthwhile in our minds. I think you get the idea that we were less than enamored with the hiking experience but we were glad to be outdoors, even though the I-90 traffic noise dominated the entire hike, of which we were certainly aware setting out on this hike.
