Started at the South end of the trail. This part of the trail is in really good shape. There are a few trees across and after several miles there were some over grown areas. This isn't the most scenic hike I've ever been on but it is relaxing and there are some enormous trees. I wasn't quite sure where the ford was as there were a couple of old logging roads that went down to the shore. At the second one, I decided to go see if I could cross. It was about 15 feet wide and at the most 18 inches deep. When I got to the other side there was no evidence of a trail so I just walked along the lake shore. I'm pretty sure where I crossed was normally the lake; the water was just really low. When the shore got too steep to walk along, I went up into the woods and the trail was right there. Elsewhere, it was quite a ways from the lake. A fun day. Hiked for 5 hours.
