Joined the Thursday crowds on a rare clear day for an extended 11+ mi. clockwise loop trip from Sunrise. Didn't get out of the car until about 11am, after a nearly hour-long work delay along the highway through Federation Forest. I started out on the trailhead on the left side of the parking lot, on a broad trail through the subalpine and on past smallish Shadow Lake, and then up to join the more open and rocky Burroughs Mountain trail. Headed up to Second Burroughs and beyond to my lunch spot on top of Third Burroughs. Good open trail between Second and Third Burroughs. Excellent views from both and along the way. After soaking in the views and downing some lunch I descended back down the Burroughs trail, and at Frozen Lake headed south (left) along the rocky trail to the freshly painted Fremont Lookout. There was a large (20+) herd of mountain goats grazing in the distant green meadows below to the east. Got back to the thinning parking lot by 5. A nice day for a long hike...
