A great trail with 360 degree views of the mountains and towns below with a fun scramble to the summit! The trail itself is in good shape and the cairns are accurately placed to lead the way. The approach and road are the issue. We followed the advice of the trip report from August 19. Google maps will take you to forest road 400 where you can park just past the gate before the road gets really bad, and it does! Then walk the overgrown forest road uphill past the first road closed road, then stay right on the main road until you reach the upper parking area which won’t have any cars but maybe a Jeep or ORV. Then find the trailhead on the right and head up to Wedge Mountain. As far as hiking forest roads goes this one is ok because it’s overgrown, has 360 degree views and we didn’t see another person all day. It was really enjoyable and our dog loved the freedom to run. Was 10.1 miles, 3200 gain for us parking at the FS400 gate.
