ok ok just put the coordinates in the maps it takes you up FS 84. Super easy road. I seriously tried the other ways too and this way was by far the easiest in my opinion. About half way up the forest service road is was covered in 2-4inches of snow a little farther up was ice under the snow. We slid a little in an all wheel drive RAV4 w city tires. Totally doable. The trail head is very apparent with parking. It’s on a hairpin turn at the summit. Today was packed. But also green Friday sooo.
The trail was covered in 4” of fluffy light snow. The trail is boot packed down. No need for snow equipment unless that’s what you prefer. I was fine in trail running shoes. 2 others in my party had gym sneakers and were fine. A few slippery icy spots on the trail. Very manageable. Really nice hike. Plenty of vert but it’s broken up with a couple of level spots. The top was not as I excepted. All rock. Not loose rock. Just a bald face if you will. Absolutely gorgeous. 100% would do again and recommend. You could see rainier (obv smack in the face), Adams, hood, and Helens. So kool to see all in one spot! Plus just epic 360 mountain views.
