Trip Report

Mailbox Peak — Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2019

Snoqualmie Region > North Bend Area

Team Cairn was at Mailbox to test some new app features. We arrived at the parking lot at just after 10 am with about 8 cars but plenty of parking. We took the old trail up and didn't encounter snow till just before the junction. We didn't need micro-spikes going up but with the compact snow, I kept thinking if it was 5 degrees colder it would be icy and a whole different situation. Made it to the top in just over 2 hours.

On the way down micro-spikes were definitely needed. Without them, you will slide as was evident watching a few parties that did not have them. Made worst by sharp rocks sticking out of the snow/ice on the trail. Bring Microspikes!

Also, the top was cold and windy, make sure you have the right clothing.
