We day hiked along Ross Lake today. Parking along highway 20 at the Ross Lake Dam parking area was tight. 25ish spots, with some very close to the highway. Toilet was being cleaned when we arrived at 10:15am.
Down to the lake was pretty steep right away. Trail is in great condition. At the first intersection - the sign points dam left and ross lake resort right - we went right. The Ross Lake Water Taxi took us from their dock up to Big Beaver campsite. $85 1-way, reservations required. 10 minutes later we were standing on a dock. Toilets at Big Beaver were new/nice.
The trail begins through the campsites. Then along the water and up over the first bridge. There are a few big water crossings over solid bridges. No concern for getting feet wet or high water (the rivers all around are currently near flood stage).
Everything was easy to follow and in great condition. Some overgrowth - resulting in wet legs - not terrible. Mostly forest walking, with short spots for views of the lake.
About 6.5 miles in 3.25 hours (11:15am to 2:30pm) to Ross Lake Resort. Drank Mt. Dew watching the crew wash the motor boats.
Then we took the Ross Lake Resort water taxi back to the east side dock. $3 per person, no reservations required, just pay at the office. 1 minute ride across the lake. Then hike back up the steep trail to our car on highway 20.
Overall - a wonderful secluded hike with the assist of a boat taxi. Highly recommended!

I think this is the Ross Dam Trail, not the Big Beaver Trail.

Nick, yes - I think you are correct.
The 'Big Beaver Trail' starts from where we started (Big Beaver Campsite). It travels northwest.
The 'Ross Dam Trail' also starts from where we started. It travels south. This is the path we took.
I'm not going to delete / recreate the trip report - but I appreciate the clarification. Hopefully others see your comment here.
