Drive up Beckler River Road and park at the big road junction at Jack's Pass. Walk up the road with the old metal gate and it leads to an old gravel pit that is being converted to the trailhead for this hike. Look for the boulders that are placed in a row and the trail begins behind them.
The trail begins in nice forest that thins as you get higher. First you get views of Bear Mountain and the North Fork Skykomish River, then south over the Beckler River toward Mt. Daniel, Hinman, Chimney Rock. As you enjoy the views, beware of a stretch of trail that has numerous critter holes. Flowers are in bloom with lupine and tiger lilies leading the way. The trail ascends up through lush fern meadows and reaches the ridge where you get a great view of Columbia, Kyes, and Glacier Peaks. We made it to the top of the trail in about 2 hours. From the top of the trail, the true summit is actually the higher forested point to the west, so we headed over to tag the top. 8 miles and 2300 feet of gain. The trail is never steep at all. No water sources so plan accordingly!
