Arrived around noon and parked by the road right next to the parking lot. Bugs were awful but didn’t bite (was wearing long sleeves and long pants, plus bug spray). Beginning part of the trail was a little rocky and rather boring but soon it leveled and became a leisurely stroll all the way to the lake. Lake was very pretty but very limited space to sit and have a bite. Lots of fish in the lake until dogs jumped in and drove them away. It wasn’t terribly crowded but almost more dogs than people. Several dogs were loose by the lake and got mud all over us…all camp sites are melted out already. We missed the fork to Mt M., perhaps it was covered by snow. There were a few patches of snow on the trail and we did ok without poles.
A good light weight workout if you don’t care about the traffic on highway 2.
