Did a trail run of the Grand Loop Saturday July 23rd, starting from Deer Park and going counter-clockwise. Had one snowfield to cross near Obstruction Point, quite short and not difficult to cross. Grand Pass had 3 snowfields, only 1 was at a steeper angle, I used poles and felt fine crossing it. Cameron Pass had a lot of shale and scree climbing up so careful footing! One snowfield at the top with good boot steps in it, I used my microspikes but my friend just used her trail shoes. Gray Wolf Pass had the most snow on the descent, one snowfield we scrambled up and around but looked like others had crossed it and one person we met at camp said she glissaded down.
Overall the route was beautiful and rugged! The northern facing slopes still have snow so be prepared with traction, poles, or whatever you are comfortable with. Hopefully with the warmer days ahead there will be some good snow melt!
