Beautiful day on the trail rim. Views went as far as Jefferson in OR along with our more local peaks.
Much has been said and I'll add only these items on a hot, clear day. We stayed below the ridge in the shade before crossing over to the East side of the ridge around 6375'.
I include this detail because staying climbers' right just above the snow from here made for pretty easy climb. Traversing left around 6900' and staying that side we had an decent walk around to the monitoring station, skipping what appeared to be the arduous boulder hopping up the face of the ridge. Afterwards, popping to climbers' right found us nice, sandy footing for the most part up the knob at 7100'. Rest of the ashy walk was straightforward and nothing different to add.
All in all, wonderful day for a wonderful hike.
