Went up to Melakwa Lake on Thursday. We arrived a little after 1pm and parked near the Franklin Falls trail head (about 50 or more other cars already there).
You’ll encounter a large fallen tree that needs to be crawl under or climb just past Denny Creek water slope, and be prepared to get your feet wet if you don’t have waterproof shoes on. There are two moderate size streams to cross and a small portion of trail required walking through a stream upwards over rocks *note* on our way down a couple of guys were moving logs across the streams for people to walk over instead*
About a mile or so from the lake you’ll encounter snow patches but they’re easy enough to navigate without gear.
The lake still had a small section covered in ice but it was absolutely breathtaking! Can’t wait to go up again with my camping gear.
