Trip Report

West Fork Foss River and Lakes — Friday, Aug. 5, 2022

Central Cascades > Stevens Pass - West
Lake Angeline

The road to trailhead was in great shape, not bad for forest service road!

The trail was easy to navigate all the way to Big Heart Lake and was in decent shape. Certain sections of the trail were rocky (sometimes you kinda had to hike on rock slabs, but they weren't too bad). The trail between Trout Lake and Lake Malachite/Copper Lake junction could use some brushing efforts, and there was a log down between Copper Lake & Little Heart Lake.

We camped at Copper Lake, and I think most of the people camped at Big Heart Lake. There were plenty of camping spots from Lake Malachite/Copper Lake junction to Big Heart Lake. You can also push beyond Big Heart Lake to continue on rudimentary trails to reach Angeline Lake and other lakes. We stopped at Angeline Lake before turning back, as it was close to our turnaround time.

My only complaint for the trip was the insane amount of mosquitoes and bugs that were around 24/7. Hopefully the bug situation will get better towards September. For now, bring bug spray and net if you can!
