What a gorgeous hike! Came in from the lot headed toward Devil's Punch Bowl on the Spruce Railroad Trail - don't take the dirt road, it's a private road even though Google maps will mistakenly tell you to drive down it - it doesn't connect to the actual trail at all. The trail was gorgeous, paved and well taken care of, wide enough for bikes but also for walkers and runners. About a mile down the trail, there's a spur trail before the tunnel off to the left hand side, and a few hundred feet takes you to the bridge over the Devil's Punch Bowl on Crescent Lake. Just gorgeous, always worth the walk.
I climbed up the dirt trail to see over the punch bowl and swear I could've easily died falling off that spot... don't recommend it if you're not steady on your feet and good with steep areas and heights. Glad I did it, but terrified getting down! Can get busy, I went on a Wednesday and wouldn't want to attempt this trail on a busy weekend since it's so skinny.
