Mount Rainier Area > NW - Carbon River/Mowich

Like many others have said, the direct road to the trailhead is pretty rough. It took us 30 minutes to go about 6 miles so make sure to go nice and slow.

Got to the trailhead at about 1030. There were about 8 other cars at the trailhead.

The trail is moderate and well maintained. Salmon berries and wild blueberries abound!

It was slightly overcast but you still got great views of Rainier.

Took a dip in the lake. It's cold but not too cold.

Had some big buzzy bugs try to follow us on the way down and they were a bit irritating but overall the bugs were a non issue. Lots of bumblebees and butterflies.

Highly recommend for a day hike!
