Great hike today. Arrived at the Smith Brook trailhead around 9am. Lot was full but found a spot past the lot along the road which cuts into the trail maybe 0.25 mi in.
Hiking in we didn’t pass too many groups. We made it to Lake Valhalla in about an hour and a half. We didn’t spend too long at the lake and soon we were on our way back to the trailhead. We passed numerous groups of people, some were very large. We made the hike back in just over one hour. It was a great hike with enough elevation to make it worthwhile but not too much. This is a very popular hike so if you don’t like crowds, either go very early or or go somewhere else.
