Great Hike
But I forgot my camera at Willow Springs.
I have done this loop several times. I always do the loop clock wise. Only once I did it opposite.
I never manage to get an early start.
I started at the June Lake parking lot. Walked to the Toutle river headwaters in around 7.5 hours. Great weather.
I just bivuacked next to the river. No tent. Very nice. I washed my self in the river and slept clean and fresh.
Started at 8am. For the most part I was the only one on the trail. A large group started at the same time as me, but I did not see them anywhere close to me.
I stopped at the Loowit River. Then at Willow Springs. There I took my shirt to get it wet so I would cool off while hiking. Nice feeling. It is called "evaporative cooling". The problem is that I took my camera off together with the shirt. Then forgot to hang it back on me and left. At Pumice Falls, 3 hours later, I realized the situation.
I needed to make it back to the car. Getting back to Willow Springs would have added 6 hours of hiking. So all I could do was ask the other hikers going in the direction of Willow Springs to hopefully pick up the camera, and post it in a lost and found at the All Trails app. Hopefully someone did.
Anyway, I got to the car after 11 hours of walking from the Toutle. That is a good day for me. I was spent, but the protein shake, pasta salad, chimichurri steak, kombucha, tomatoes and grapes did a great job for me.
Hopefully you found my camera, o know who did. It is a green Olympus Tough on a black cordura Case Logic bag. The last image is a night shot and video are at my bivuak at the Toutle.
