Did a quick walk this morning before work. The forest here is surprisingly serene and pretty considering the urban setting. Not busy at all on a weekday morning, as I only ran into a couple of walkers when I started, and two people when I got back to the entrance, but no one further into the trails.
I parked at the small parking lot for the city park, which is on the right pretty much immediately after you turn onto 2nd Ave SW. I then walked past a couple of houses, found the trailhead sign for Walker Preserve on my left just as the road starts to curve and become a private drive. From the entrance, I started on the Main Loop Trail then took a right onto the Miller Creek Loop. I then connected it with the Walker Creek Loop down to Walker Creek, which is a nice little babbling creek down in the forest floor. Admired the creek for a couple of minutes, I then continued up the Walker Creek Spur, connected back onto the Walker Creek Loop, which then led me back onto the Main Loop Trail going back to the entrance. So I basically just followed the most obvious outer loop shown on Gaia, and ended up doing about 1.5 miles starting and ending at the parking area.
Some up and downs on these trail, though no significant elevation gains and losses. Trails can be steep, narrow and a little loose in sections considering it being an urban park, especially on the Miller Creek Loop. In a couple of places there are some drop offs on the side so be careful with children and elders.
Some nice fall colors and fallen leaves carpeting the trail. Overall a surprisingly nice little urban oasis in a busy area near the airport.
