Cascade Pass — Monday, Oct. 3, 2022

North Cascades > North Cascades Highway - Hwy 20
Cascade Pass by Wanderinglust

Went up Sunday and although the road is passable for all, I personally won’t drive my sedan up again. Lots of washboards on the road and very steep and narrow in some parts. The non paved portion is roughly 10-12 miles so be prepared to add that to your time/drive unless you have high clearance.

As for the hike itself, absolutely loved it and once you exit the 3 miles of trees, it opens up to glorious views and all the fall colors you can dream of! Didn’t make it to Sahale arm only because it was getting late in the day and I was solo. I’d say this is definitely a easy hike up until after Cascade pass. After the viewing point is where you start getting some good elevation gain and becomes quite steep. I’ll have to get back another time for the rest! Go if you can, it is magical up there!
