Despite the smoke, seems like all of Washington was on Highway 20 this weekend. Got a late start and didn't reach the trailhead until about 10:15. By that time, we had to road-park about a 1/4-mile away, but we weren't complaining after passing the dumpster fire at Heather/Maple. That parking situation was insane, with cars lining the road for well over a mile in each direction on both sides...and people walking right out in the middle of the highway.
The trail up to Blue was definitely crowded, and we leap-frogged several parties on the short hike to the lake. The lake was pretty washed out by the time we got there, and the smoke from the nearby fires made for some unique photos. There were people everywhere at the lake, not surprising given the warm temps. Lots of fall color and lots of golden larches.
Got back down to the car pretty quickly, and made the very smoky trek back to Seattle. The smoke around Diablo and Ross was extremely thick, blocking all mountain & lake views for the most part. Hoping we get some rain soon.
