This hike is 7.25 miles. Not sure who creates the hike distance, but they are off by 1.25 miles. Which is a lot when you’re toting a 30lb pack and have been going uphill most of the way.
This was a beautiful hike! I would do it again during this time of year. Perfect weather, almost no bugs, no mosquitos. We were the only ones on the trail for both days.
It took us 4.5 hours to hike into heart lake. Elevation gain of 2,363 ft over that period of time. If you haven’t put your body through that kind of stress before, I would train for it. My daughter and I are very fit and so we threw ourselves into it. Now we’re VERY sore, with swollen knees, cause it’s mainly downhill on the way out.
