Spectacular 2 night stay at upper Snowy Lakes, Thursday-Saturday. The forecast was perfect for an October weekend. After leaving Cutthroat Pass, I only passed one runner along the trail. I camped at Upper Snowy Lake. I was alone the first night. Two other parties (3 people) arrived Friday night, but the area is so vast that we never crossed paths. The fall colors were at their peak at the lakes. The trail between Cutthroat Pass and Snowy Lakes opens up into expansive peaks and landscape. The smoke came and went through the weekend. I took a day trip up to Methow Pass on Friday where the fall colors, again, were at their prime.
Beautiful place to spend a few days!
(for those interested, I never did find the toilet at Upper Snowy Lake... only found the ones at Lower Snowy and at the intersection of the PCT and the Snowy Lakes trailhead.)
