Just here to write a quick trip report to thank the folks on trail yesterday who helped me when I was injured. My partner and I were planning to overnight at Gem Lake when an unfortunate misstep at Snow Lake led to me falling and breaking my wrist. Thanks to the folks who helped us craft a makeshift sling to make it more manageable to walk the 3.5 miles out. Thank you to the person who offered to carry my loaded overnight pack out for me. And thanks to the countless folks who offered ibuprofen on the way out. Just another reminder how important preparedness can be even on a hike that seems as benign as this one - day hiking and overnighters alike. Even more-so, it is another reminder of the wonderful hiking community. Again - thanks to all who were there to help! If this was going to happen anywhere, I am glad it happened on a trail so well travelled and maintained. It was a beautiful day despite the injury, and I can't wait to heal up and get back out there.
